At this point... we have no idea who will walk off with the nomination. As usual, Our Side... the Party of the Big Tent... has nothing less than 3 terrific contenders!
We have the first WOMAN to be in the running. A very special, brilliant, talented woman at that.
If you are a Hillary Fan, no wonder! She's Been There and Done That.
If you are a GoBama person... wow! again! A guy brought up in a mixed-race family, who spent time in school in Indonesia, and could be the first person of African American dissent to become President.
And then there is Populist John Edwards. If you have any Progressive instincts, you have to love
John.
The race is between these three. Any ONE of whom would be better for America than the
Opposition:
Huckabee...a partly whacked-out favorite of Evangelicals;
Mitt... way, way too Conservative for our taste;
Giuliani... with a troubled past and questionable actions in NYC;
And, well, the Others, a disparate group of Conservative Retreads.
This is our Big Moment: We can RETAKE the White House, get a proper Majority in the Senate, and strengthen our lead in the House. To do that, we need EVERY VOTE. Let's Go For It! California will make a difference in this contest.
I will confess, the blog here has not been updated for some time, not because there isn't anything to blog about, but because there seems to be too many things to blog about. Everyday there is some new action by Bush that leaves me shaking my head and longing for this nightmare to be over.
Just recently Bush vetoed the SCHIPS expansion bill, claiming that it was too expensive. This bill would cover millions of American children who right now do not have health insurance. These are poor children, middle class children, sick children, children who have working parents, children who Bush somehow just doesn't seem to think "deserve" health care. Now this whole veto thing is bad enough, but what follows is even worse.'

The Democrats aired a Saturday radio response and featured a 12 year old boy who was the recipient of the government funded health care program for children, SCHIPS. The boy and his family have been viciously attacked by the far right with lies and more lies. What is just amazing is that this family has done EVERYTHING that the far right claims is what you need to do to be successful in America. The fact that this family needed government aid is a slap in the face to their "compassionate conservatism" and since they can't tell the truth they need to lie. Shameful, simply shameful.
This Monday night Keith Olbermann, MSNBC, will air a segment with this family, make sure you take the time to watch.
I keep waiting for these long, horrible "Bush" years to be over, for these years to become a bad part of history. Our nation, our citizens, the world, we all deserve a leader who can lead in every sense of the word.
We need to make sure to do all that we can make sure a Democrat is elected President in 2008. And I, for one, have pledged to do just that, will you join me?
