Never before in the history of our nation has there been as clear and compelling reasons to impeach a sitting president and vice president. Even Nixon's transgressions pale in comparison to the actions of this administration. Our nation must do what our constitution demands we do, our nation must rise to the duty called upon us, as citizens we cannot ignore the fact that Bush and Cheney are, on a daily basis, attacking and destroying our constitution.

After watching this video explain to me how the actions of this administration should not result in impeachment. This administration knowingly lied about the dire threat our nation was facing from Saddam Hussein, and because of their lies our nation, the world, is at greater risk of unrest then ever before. Not only did this administration lie about the war, they actively and knowingly revealed the identity of a covert CIA agent, Valerie Plame:
the Justice Department had launched a criminal investigation into the Plame leak after the CIA informed officials there that she was an undercover officer.
There can be no doubt that the current occupant in the White House is doing all he can to destroy our nation from within. As President Dwight Eisenhower stated:
"The problem in defense is how far you can go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without."
Destruction from within is exactly what we are witnessing as you read this post. Torture, secret tribunals, kidnapping, assertions that the executive branch is above the law, ignoring subpoenas from congress, unauthorized wiretapping of American citizens, secret task force meetings on energy that involve only oil company executives, use of governmental agencies as political agents, dismissing science in the name of religion, these are but a few of the actions by this administration.
There can be no doubt that this administration has chiseled away at the rights guaranteed in our constitution, that our nation faces a threat much bigger then any harm a terrorist could inflict upon us. Americans must do their duty, we must protect our nation from all enemies, foreign AND domestic, and the tools that we are empowered with are contained in that document which gives us the freedoms we so cherish, the constitution.
There are probably currently not enough votes in the Senate to actually remove and uphold articles of impeachment, however this alone cannot be a determining factor in impeachment. Rather we must look at the evidence before us and make the decision based solely upon the actions of this administration. If we do not do our duty as Americans we will have weakened our constitution and willingly decided that our rights are not worthy of protection.
We cannot, we must not allow this administration to set a standard that is unacceptable and sure to be utilized by administrations in the future. Though the time and energy needed to impeach is extraordinary, it is our time to rise to that level and do what our founding fathers risked their lives for: a country free of tyranny, a nation of individual rights and freedoms never before seen in the history of the world. Should we not do our duty we certainly will suffer the consequences of empowering future administrations to do as they please under the cover of "executive privilege." No man, no administration, is above the law, and yet, if we do not impeach we allow this administration just that, to place themselves above the law.
We have before us a choice that cannot be taken lightly, we cannot discard the facts before us, we owe this to future generations, and we must have the courage to do that which protects our nation from those who seek to harm us from within.
