RESOLUTION

In support of Clean Money Campaign Finance

Reform in California

WHEREAS despite campaign promises made during the gubernatorial recall election, Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger has raised enormous sums of campaign money from special interests; and

WHEREAS public funding of campaigns in the form of Clean Money Campaign Finance Reform in Maine and Arizona has been enormously successful both in reducing the amount spent on campaigns and in reducing the influence of special interests; and

WHEREAS Assemblywoman Loni Hancock of Berkeley plans to re-introduce Clean Money reform legislation into the California Assembly next year; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that the Santa Clara County Democratic Party calls on all California Democratic legislators to support Ms. Hancock’s legislation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to all such legislators.
