Spring 2005 Special Elections

The Santa Clara County urges a YES vote on two measures up for consideration in special elections in Spring 2005.

Measure A, Milpitas (March 8): To attract and retain qualified teachers, maintain instructors and equipment for science and technology education, keep small class sizes in grades K-3 and 9th grade English and math, and maintain quality programs in neighborhood schools; shall Milpitas Unified School District levy an annual tax of $140 per parcel for 5 years only, with annual audits, independent citizens oversight, no money for administrator salaries, an exemption for senior citizens age 65 or older, and all money benefiting local schools? YES

County Library Parcel Tax (vote by mail, April 10-May 3), saveourlibaries.org: There are two questions on the ballot. The first renews the existing parcel tax of $35/year. The second increases it by $1/month. SCCDP urges a YES vote on both.
