Bill Monning, candidate for 27th AD, spoke to committee about his campaign. Spoke about building united campaign from Obama on down the ticket.   

Sunshine Borelli and Mike Potter talked about helping with targeted Assembly districts for November election. Will be collaborating with Labor Temple. Joan Buchanan AD 15 is closest targeted seat.

Carol Garvey - DAWN Endorsement brunch – Sunday, Sept 7

 

Beverly Waller Wharton – Evergreen – August meeting featured four waters, director of “Take Back Red California,” Mary Renaud, volunteer coordinator of “TBRC,” and San Jose City Council Candidate Rose Herrera; Annual Dem club BBQ planned for Sept 14 at the Foothill Center; Oct meeting will feature Prof. Terry Christensen and Steve Kettman, who co-authored “Letter to a New President” with Sen. Robert Byrd.

 

Clarence Madrillejos – Moorpark – held watch parties, will be supporting office

 

Mehdi Safipour – Iranian-American – Faz restaurant with Steve Westly on Sun, Sept 7

Gloria Nieto – LGBT – No on 8

 

Wanda Bryan – Dean Club - At our meeting of Aug. 18, we voted to co-sponsor the John Dean Event. He is a great speaker and his book "Broken Government" is a must read. We collected $72 for Veteran's Phone Cards and voted to double the amount. Mary Gill will purchase and deliver the phone cards to the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital. $350 worth of cards were donated after the March Bake Sale. 6 member voluteers knocked on doors for Charlie Brown on Aug. 16, and we will have a fundraiser for Charlie Brown on Sun. Sept. 7, at Stephanie Grossman's house in Palo Alto from 2-4pm. A fundraiser was held on Aug. 15, at Alice Smith's house in Palo Alto for Jerry McNerney. The event netted over $1500, not counting online contributions. Club members will participate in Phone banking and Canvassing for Jerry McNerney and Charlie Brown on several scheduled dates in Sept. and Oct., in their districts. We held Democratic Convention Watch Parties on 3 nights - great speeches, fun and discussion.

At our meeting on Sept. 3, we phone banked for Barak Obama to the battleground state of Nevada

 

Aldyth Parle – SCCDC – Sponsored John Dean event along with 5 other clubs, event was a success; club will co-host Bill Durston for Congress fundraiser; two Straight Talk shows will be taped on Sept 6, one focused on the Obama campaign, one on public financing of local elections

Democratic Television Producer Steve Chessin reported that our guest in July was four waters, Chair of Take Back Red California.  Our guest in August was Foothill-De Anza Community College Board Trustee and Assembly District 22 nominee Paul Fong, who was interviewed by guest host Jon Kessler.

 

Our guest in September will be Rose Herrera, candidate for San Jose City Council District 8.

 

We will be on San Jose Comcast Channel 15A September 4th with four waters, September 18th and October 16th with Hon. Paul Fong, and October 2nd and 30th with Rose Herrera.
