The Mission City Democratic Club met Monday, February 5, 2007 at 1160 Jackson Street in the Old Quad portion of Santa Clara.  2006 Club President Anna Song called the meeting to order at 7:14 p.m.

The attendees reviewed the results of the 2006 elections, including a discussion of local, state and national races and the impact of MCDC's recommendation mailer sent to more than 10,000 Democratic households in Santa Clara.  The club's recommended candidates were received positively by the voters on Election Day.  Club members also received a report on the DNC meeting in DC from the previous weekend.

In addition to substantial discussion regarding growth ideas and strategies, the meeting included officer reports from the 2006 officers who completed their terms, and a review of the club's FPPC reports.  The club voted to meet six times for general membership meetings in 2007: Feb. 5, April 9, June 4, August 6, October 1 and December 3 and to rotate meetings to different parts of the City.  All dates are Mondays and meetings will begin at 7 p.m.

Additionally, the club voted to hold committee meetings during the in-between months.  The Outreach Committee will meet Monday March 5, 2007, at 7 p.m.  The club also voted to participate in the annual Creek Cleanup in late April and to reserve publicity space at Santa Clara's 2007 Art & Wine Festival scheduled for September.  The members discussed the outreach goals suggested by the California Democratic Council, aiming towards three percent of registered Democrats in the City of Santa Clara.  The Outreach Committee was asked to consider a speaker series that could present panels on important local issues and reports from elected and agency representatives, in a format that would reach out to diverse age ranges, backgrounds and parts of the City.  The Outreach Committee also was asked to consider a member-to-neighbor recruitment program.  For now, membership rates continue to be $25 per individual; $40 per household; $10 for full-time students and "senior citizen" Dems.

With other business complete, the club then elected 2007 officers.  Each officer was nominated from the floor and was elected unanimously.  The 2007 Mission City Democratic Club officers are:

President: Todd Fitch
Vice-President: Pat Mahan
Secretary/Treasurer : Chris Stampolis
Outreach Director: Kamran Merchant
Liaison to County Committee: Todd Fitch (with authority to appoint a proxy as needed)
