Most of the attention is on the Presidential election this year, but there are other important races on the November 4 ballot. The Santa Clara County Democratic Party has endorsed candidates in many of the city council and school board races. For example, in an important contest, Rose Herrera is a strong Democrat running against a reactionary Republican in San Jose District 8 (see below). Other competitive contests include those for Mountain View and Santa Clara City Councils. For a complete list of the candidates endorsed by the Democratic Party, visit our endorsements page. Check back in early October, as many of the school board races will be endorsed at the October 2 meeting of the Democratic Central Committee. Local and State Ballot Measures Your ballot will be full of a variety of local and state ballot measures. Are you unsure how to vote? The Democratic Party has taken official positions on many of the measures and initiatives. All of our recommendations are available on our website. If you have any questions about any local candidates or measures, email us at info@sccdp.org and we will do our best to find an answer for you. It will take place in front of Java Junction and Secret Oasis Day Spa (they are next to each other) at 4075 Evergreen Village Square (Aborn and Ruby Road). Rose's campaign is also sponsoring a food drive at Evergreen Village Square this week, ending at the kickoff. Several stores have barrels, including Java Junction, Secret Oasis Day Spa, Bank of America, Quizno's Subs, and Silvercreek Fitness and Physical Therapy. Or just bring your donations to the kickoff on Sunday. Dust off those walking shoes and show your support for Rose Herrera. Share a light breakfast from 10:00-11:00am followed by a neighborhood walk. Volunteers typically walk for only 2-3 hours, and sunscreen is provided! This is a wonderful opportunity to get out in the great weather and get the word out on an amazing neighborhood candidate. Or join us in calling voters. Come on down to 3051 Marston Way or call 408-274-6007 for information.
