The 22nd AD Committee of the Democratic Party will hold its 2005-2006 reorgnization on Saturday, January 8, 11am-1pm, City Council Chamber. Mountain View City Hall, 500 Castro Street, Mountain View. If you want to vote at the meeting or run for an office or delegate position, you must be a member in good standing by December 14. That means you need to pay your dues, which are $15 ($7 for students and seniors). The reorganization meeting for the 2005-2006 term of the 21st AD Committee will be on Saturday, January 8 from 10am-12pm, at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Avenue, Los Altos. The speaker for our first luncheon of 2005 is Dr. Brian Murphy, former chief of Staff to Senator John Vasconcellos. Dr. Murphy was named President of DeAnza Community College last May. He will talk to the Century Club on the importance of "civic engagement" and his plans for getting students more committed and involved in politics and as citizens. He is passionate about the subject and made it the topic of his Inaugural address in November.

Assembly Woman Cohn represents the 24th Assembly District which is comprised of much of Silicon Valley, from her hometown of Saratoga to Campbell and parts of San Jose and Santa Clara. Ms. Cohn has built a tremendous a record in the state legislature. During her first year in office, Ms. Cohn served as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care where she worked to expand affordable long-term care coverage and increased oversight of adult-day health care and evaluated the need to protect seniors from legal fraud. As the chairperson of both the Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence and the Select Committee on the Future of California's Health during her second term, the Assembly Woman worked to raise the awareness and to reduce domestic violence across the state.
